Four U.S. Marines Killed in Osprey Aircraft Crash During NATO Exercise

Crash Occurred in Norway’s Arctic Circle, Claiming Lives of Service Members from Marine Aircraft Group

The U.S. Marine Corps has confirmed the identities of the four Marines who tragically died when their Osprey aircraft crashed Friday night in a Norwegian town located within the Arctic Circle. The crash occurred during a NATO training exercise, resulting in the loss of the following service members:

Capt. Matthew J. Tomkiewicz, 27, of Fort Wayne, Indiana
Capt. Ross A. Reynolds, 27, of Leominster, Massachusetts
Gunnery Sgt. James W. Speedy, 30, of Cambridge, Ohio
These Marines were assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 261, part of Marine Aircraft Group 26, 2d Marine Aircraft Wing, based at Marine Corps Air Station New River in North Carolina.
