Luis Diaz Scores Crucial Late Goal to Give Liverpool 3-1 Advantage Over Benfica

The Former Porto Star Shines in the Champions League Quarter-Final

Luis Diaz made an impactful return to Portugal, scoring a vital late goal to give Liverpool a 3-1 lead over Benfica in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final. The winger, who joined Liverpool from Porto in January, was met with relentless boos from the home crowd but responded brilliantly in the 87th minute.

Diaz’s goal came after Ibrahima Konate’s earlier mistake had gifted Benfica a goal, following his own earlier strike for Liverpool. The goal capped off a hard-fought match, leaving Liverpool in a strong position heading into the second leg at Anfield.
