Parents File Lawsuit Alleging Negligence by Amusement Ride’s Owner, Manufacturer, and Landlord
The mother of Tyre Sampson, a 14-year-old Missouri boy who died on a 430-foot drop-tower ride in a Florida amusement park, has spoken out, calling her son’s death avoidable. In an interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Nekia Dodd expressed her grief and frustration, saying, “This could’ve been prevented … it should’ve been prevented.” She emphasized the responsibility of ride operators to thoroughly check safety measures, noting that the procedures appeared insufficient.
On Monday, Dodd and Tyre’s father filed a lawsuit in Orlando state court, targeting the ride’s owner, its manufacturer, and the property’s landlord. The suit claims negligence in failing to ensure the safety of the attraction, demanding accountability for what they describe as preventable failures.
