Climate Change Minister Describes Flooding as “Humanitarian Disaster of Epic Proportions”

Pakistan has called for urgent international support following devastating floods caused by heavy monsoon rains that have left at least 903 people dead. More than 30 million people have been affected by the floods, according to the country’s climate change minister, who described the disaster as a “climate-induced humanitarian catastrophe of epic proportions.” Sherry Rehman, the federal minister for climate change, emphasized that neither the provinces nor Islamabad could manage the scale of the disaster without external assistance.
