The Portuguese Forward Scores to Help United Reach Knockout Stages
Cristiano Ronaldo found himself back among the goals as Manchester United triumphed in the Europa League, securing their spot in the knockout stages. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who had been left out of previous matches, marked his return by adding a late goal in United’s 3-0 win over Sheriff Tiraspol at Old Trafford.
Though Ronaldo had expressed disdain for competing in Europe’s second-tier competition, the win was a welcome relief after earlier frustrations. Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot also scored, as United extended their dominance over the Moldovan side.
However, United must now focus on their final group game against Real Sociedad. With the group still up for grabs, United need to win by at least two goals to claim first place and avoid a potentially difficult Champions League opponent in the next round.
