Surge in Albanian Migrants Crossing Channel to UK Reaches Nearly 6,000

Significant Increase in Albanian Arrivals Recorded on South Coast

Nearly 6,000 Albanians are estimated to have crossed the Channel into the UK so far this year, marking a sharp rise over recent months. Previously, Albanians were seldom seen among migrants arriving by boat on the south coast, but officials now report they represent the majority of recent crossings. According to a Home Office report published on Thursday, 2,165 Albanians arrived between January and June 2022, a stark increase from just 23 during the same period in the prior year.
