Taiwan Holds Military Drills in Response to Chinese Threats

Exercises Demonstrate Taiwan’s Readiness to Defend Against Chinese Pressure

In the wake of escalating Chinese military actions, Taiwan has launched military exercises to demonstrate its preparedness to resist Beijing’s efforts to assert political control over the self-governing island. The drills, held on Wednesday off the southeastern coast of Hualien, follow a series of missile launches and incursions into Taiwan’s air and sea space by China’s People’s Liberation Army. Taiwan’s Defense Ministry condemned the ongoing provocations, with spokesperson Sun Li-fang emphasizing that China’s actions threaten regional peace and stability.
