From designer-inspired collections to bold new trends, the high street delivers its most stylish season yet
Spring 2025 marks a turning point for British high street fashion, with an array of impressive collections offering style-savvy shoppers designer looks without the hefty price tag.
While London’s luxury boutiques on Mount Street remain ever popular, a new wave of affordable fashion is flourishing beyond those glossy storefronts. M&S continues its impressive rise, John Lewis has stepped up its game, and elsewhere, high street brands are bringing runway energy to everyday wear.
A stroll down Oxford Street reveals the transformation: Zara’s latest collection, photographed by fashion icon Steven Meisel, is grabbing attention; Uniqlo has teamed up once again with ex-Givenchy creative Clare Waight Keller; and COS has unveiled fresh pieces direct from their New York show.
Meanwhile, Reiss is growing its premium atelier range, Mango is set to drop its smart linen collection soon, and Arket’s green leather handbags are already drawing comparisons to Phoebe Philo’s designs. Even Gap is undergoing a revival, with Zac Posen’s first collection as creative director arriving next month.
Here are the five key fashion buys to consider right now:
The Bohemian Bag
Boho chic isn’t going anywhere this season. Zara’s limited edition suede mini city bag, part of their new Studio drop, blends Glastonbury festival vibes with gladiator cool. (£159, zara.com)
The Yellow Statement Piece
Butter yellow has been crowned this spring’s signature shade. You could go all in with a full suit from COS, but for something subtle yet stylish, try an oversized Oxford shirt in pale yellow by Gant. (£125, gant.co.uk)
The Suede Jacket
Suede is back in a big way — Midnight Cowboy style. M&S is tapping into the trend with an Autograph suede jacket, perfect for layering in the unpredictable spring weather. (£279, coming soon, marksandspencer.com)
The Barrel-Leg Jeans
Denim this season is all about shape, and barrel-leg jeans are leading the charge. British label Damson Madder offers a standout pair, but you’ll also find similar styles at John Lewis and Levi’s. (£100, harveynichols.com)
The Leather Clogs
The most daring addition to your spring wardrobe: chunky leather clogs. They’ve been making waves on Paris runways (Chloé included) and are ideal for anything from a casual evening at the pub to a summer dinner outdoors.
If you’re looking to freshen up your wardrobe without breaking the bank, this is the high street’s most stylish season yet.
