Former President Focuses on Personal Grievances Over Support for Ohio Senate Candidate
At a rally intended to boost Ohio Senate candidate JD Vance, former President Donald Trump delivered a speech lasting over an hour and a half, focusing largely on past grievances and self-praise rather than outlining reasons for Ohioans to support his endorsed candidate. Despite endorsing Vance just eight days prior, Trump made only a brief mention of him at the beginning of his remarks.
JD Vance, a former venture capitalist and author who had once criticized Trump’s influence on the working class, spoke hours before Trump’s arrival at the Delaware, Ohio event. The two shared little time on stage together, despite Vance’s pursuit of Trump’s endorsement.
Meanwhile, Trump, twice impeached and recently deemed by a California judge to have likely committed crimes in his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results, dedicated most of his speech to rehashing past battles rather than supporting Vance’s campaign.
