Former US President Donald Trump has posted an AI-generated video on his Truth Social platform, presenting a futuristic vision of Gaza. The video, shared without comment, imagines the war-ravaged region as a glamorous Middle Eastern resort filled with modern skyscrapers, yachts, and extravagant parties.
The footage begins with scenes of Gaza’s current devastation, before transitioning to an imagined 2025 transformation, with a “Trump Gaza” tower, golden statues, and beachfront entertainment. Among the figures depicted are Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sunbathing, while Elon Musk is shown enjoying Middle Eastern cuisine as dancers perform nearby.
The video, which features an original song with lyrics hailing Trump’s vision for Gaza, has sparked widespread reaction. Some of his supporters praised the concept, while others found it inappropriate or unsettling, particularly the inclusion of bearded belly dancers and exaggerated imagery.
Trump had previously suggested a plan to redevelop Gaza into a luxury destination, proposing the relocation of millions of Palestinian residents to neighbouring Arab countries and US-led rebuilding efforts. The White House initially called the idea “visionary”, though it was widely condemned by international leaders, including those from Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia.
Hamas dismissed the proposal as “absurd”, while critics accused Trump of advocating ethnic cleansing. Meanwhile, the AI-generated video has raised further controversy, with some questioning its intent and potential impact on diplomatic relations.
