The UK is experiencing its largest avian influenza outbreak, with an alarming 2.8 million poultry and captive birds culled this year. The disease has had a devastating impact, particularly on wild seabird populations across Scotland, Wales, and northern England. However, the outbreak’s toll on commercial livestock is equally severe, with 144 outbreaks reported nationwide. England has seen the highest number of incidents, with 120 cases, followed by Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The situation continues to pose significant challenges for the agriculture sector.
