Is Joe Biden Toast?

Polls suggest President Biden may lose the 2024 election, but there’s still a potential path for a landslide win.

A recent poll has set off alarm bells within the Democratic Party. Released last Sunday, it came from the highly regarded New York Times/Siena pollster, known for its accuracy during the 2022 election cycle. The finding was stark: Donald Trump leads Joe Biden in five of the six swing states that are expected to decide the outcome of the 2024 presidential race. Is Biden’s re-election campaign really in such trouble?

The poll focused on just six states, a narrower sample than national polls, but that was intentional. These six states are expected to be the battlegrounds of 2024, and they include the three “blue wall” states of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. These are the states that Hillary Clinton lost to Trump in 2016 but that Biden managed to win back in 2020. In addition, the poll covered Arizona, Nevada, and Georgia—three states Biden won by a narrow margin of less than five percentage points in 2020.

Despite Biden’s challenging position in these key battlegrounds, the poll offers a crucial insight: there’s still a path for him to win—possibly by a landslide. While the odds appear to be stacked against him, the right strategy and conditions could still tilt the scales in Biden’s favor. Whether this scenario materializes will depend on a combination of factors, including voter turnout, economic conditions, and the political landscape in these pivotal states.

As of now, the Democratic Party’s prospects for 2024 appear uncertain. Biden’s standing in key swing states suggests a tough road ahead, but the coming months will provide clarity as candidates focus on these battlegrounds, trying to win over undecided voters and solidify their bases. For now, it seems, the outcome of the election remains very much up in the air.
