Queen Limits Platinum Jubilee Balcony Appearance to Working Royals

Duke of York and Sussexes Omitted from Royal Lineup for Trooping the Colour

The Queen has decided to limit the balcony appearance at the Platinum Jubilee Trooping the Colour to only working members of the royal family, excluding the Duke of York and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Buckingham Palace stated that the decision was made “after careful consideration,” and it reflects the monarch’s focus on royals who are actively involved in official public duties.

This move is likely to be seen as a pointed gesture, especially toward Harry and Meghan, who stepped down from royal duties and relocated to the US two years ago, as well as towards Prince Andrew, who was removed from public royal duties following his involvement in a civil sexual assault case.
