Singapore Airlines Offers Compensation of At Least $10,000 to Turbulence-Hit Flight Passengers

The airline extends compensation offers following the May 21 incident that led to injuries and one death.

Singapore Airlines has announced compensation offers for passengers of Flight SQ321, which encountered severe turbulence on May 21, resulting in one passenger’s death and several injuries. The airline confirmed on its official Facebook page that it issued compensation offers on Monday to passengers affected by the incident, which occurred shortly before the flight made an emergency landing at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok.

Passengers who sustained minor injuries from the turbulence are being offered $10,000 in compensation. Those who suffered more serious injuries have been invited to discuss further compensation offers with the airline. The incident prompted an immediate response from Singapore Airlines, with the airline acknowledging the distress caused to its passengers.

The airline’s gesture comes as part of its efforts to address the impact of the flight, which had been traveling from Singapore to London. The severe turbulence caused significant disruptions, and the compensation is part of the airline’s efforts to assist affected passengers during their recovery.

The incident has drawn widespread attention, highlighting the unpredictable risks of air travel, even on otherwise routine flights. Singapore Airlines has faced scrutiny for how it has handled the situation but has emphasized its commitment to passenger safety and support following the tragedy.
